The surface drying time of silicone sealant is generally 5-10 minutes. Repairing the surface of silicone sealant must be done before it dries. The curing process of silicone sealant develops from the surface inward. The surface drying time and curing time of different types of silicone sealant vary. The curing time increases with the increase of the bonding thickness. For example, 12mm thick acidic glass sealant may take 3-4 days to solidify. But within about 24 hours, the outer 3mm layer has already cured.
During the curing process of the sealant, temporary fixing fixtures must be used. This is to prevent the sealant from experiencing any stress before it achieves complete adhesion. Due to differences in interface size, temperature and humidity, the curing time typically ranges from 7 to 28 days.
